In his own words… from Raul

From Raul in Benson, NC

In Mexico, corn was the lifeblood of my community…and then there was no blood and my parents came here.  In school here I have worked so hard to make good grades, to make my parents proud.  I had such high grades and loved school so much.  I wanted to be an engineer; I want to be an engineer.  But for now I will take any work.  When people say the hateful things that say about me or my family, they are not seeing me or people as human beings.  Labels – like – REFUGEE – dehumanize – strip – allow for persecution.
